Tuesday’s update for Bexhill, St Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, Ore, Battle and Eastbourne covers continuing overnight roadworks and forthcoming half-term rail disruption. These are planned or ongoing notices, not a claim of new incidents today.
Roads: overnight A27 diversions continue
National Highways continues to list A27 closures in both directions between Southerham and Berwick roundabouts on 19–24 October, 9pm–6am. The signed diversion uses the A26 and A22 through Little Horsted and Polegate. Allow extra journey time if your airport or seaport route uses this section at night. Further overnight closures affect Offington–Grove Lodge, Worthing, on 22–23 October, also 9pm–6am. Official Sussex works notice.
A27 Langstone interchange westbound closures remain listed for 19–23 October, 8pm–6am, affecting overnight journeys towards Portsmouth and Southampton. Follow the signed diversion and check the latest conditions before leaving. Langstone schedule.
Rail: half-term changes begin this weekend
Network Rail confirms replacement buses between Havant and Southampton Central on 24 and 25 October. During the main Havant closure, 26–30 October, Southern services terminate at Chichester and Waterloo–Portsmouth Harbour trains at Petersfield. Replacement buses include Chichester–Portsmouth Harbour and Chichester–Southampton Central. Check your exact itinerary and allow time for changes with luggage before connecting with a cruise or ferry. Wider service changes run until 1 November. Network Rail timetable arrangements.
Yesterday’s late-night Reading–Gatwick engineering notice applied to 19 October. It should not be treated as a continuing cancellation notice for tonight; use your operator’s current journey planner.
Flights: continuing Saudi warning and Tel Aviv connection suspension
FCDO advice, current on 20 October, remains against all travel within 10km of Yemen’s border and against all but essential travel to the rest of Saudi Arabia. Confirm bookings with your airline or tour operator and check insurance implications before leaving for Gatwick or Heathrow. Travel advice is not confirmation that an individual flight is cancelled. Emirates’ notice dated 5 October still lists its codeshare operations with flydubai to/from Tel Aviv as suspended until further notice. Check affected onward connections directly; do not assume that UK–Dubai services are cancelled. Airline notice.
Portsmouth: EU border checks clarification
Portsmouth International Port says EU Entry/Exit System checks take place at destination ports, with no new EES systems or checks at Portsmouth itself. Continue to follow your ferry operator’s check-in deadline and entry-document guidance. Port’s passenger information.
