Local roads – Bexhill, St Leonards and Hastings

Barrack Road, Bexhill: scheduled repairs begin today, 26 October, and run to Friday 30 October, 8am–4pm daily. Excavation outside No. 20 prevents vehicle access between that property and the cul-de-sac end once work begins. Pedestrian and emergency access remain. Agree a reachable collection point before your journey. Official notice.

B2095 Hooe: overnight through closures are scheduled from tonight until 7 November, 7pm–6am, with no weekend working. The affected stretch is between the A269 and A259 junctions. The signed diversion uses the A269, A2690 and A259; access to properties is managed by the site team. Official notice.

A21 Sedlescombe Road North/Whitworth Road, Hastings: final overnight works are scheduled 26–30 October, 8pm–6am, with temporary traffic lights during working hours. Allow extra time around the junction. Official schedule.

These are published work schedules, not confirmation of conditions at each site. Coverage is selective, including connecting routes used by St Leonards drivers. The complete live utility and emergency-works map was not verified; check East Sussex Highways’ map for your exact route.

Rail: Portsmouth and Southampton blockade starts today

26–30 October: Southern services terminate at Chichester and Waterloo–Portsmouth Harbour services at Petersfield. Replacement buses run Petersfield–Portsmouth Harbour, Chichester–Portsmouth Harbour and Chichester–Southampton Central. Allow longer connections for cruise and ferry departures and check your operator’s journey planner. Network Rail details.

Roads: overnight airport and seaport routes

M27: National Highways lists overnight closures affecting the eastbound junction 3–5 section and junction 4 exit slip during 26 October–6 November, 9pm–6am. Check the exact nightly closure before a Southampton journey and follow the signed diversion. Official maintenance schedule.

Gatwick A23: the London Road westbound exit slip remains listed for overnight closure during 12 October–13 November, 9pm–4am. Follow signs and confirm your terminal approach. National Highways A23 notice.

Flights and ferries

The FCDO Saudi Arabia advice remains current on 26 October following its 21 October airport-security update. Travellers should check the full advice and confirm their flight and connections with the airline before travelling to Gatwick or Heathrow. A security warning alone does not confirm an individual flight cancellation.

A complete Portsmouth sailing status could not be verified for this check. Confirm your booked sailing and check-in time using Brittany Ferries’ official updates before departure.

Dated snapshot: road schedules and services can change after publication. Check official road information and your rail, airline, ferry or cruise operator again before travelling.
